He began work on December 27, 1948 as a draftsman-clerk and by July 1, 1968 was appointed Superintendent of the Division of Water. He retired on January 10, 1986. . . that's 37 years for those who don't want to do the math. John met his wife at church camp 1946. First pulling a trailer with the car, moved up to a truck and bigger trailer and finally found a home RV park and had a park model with an Arizona room. The first time they each had their own bathrooms and air-conditioning. John's favorite activities were ping-pong and square dancing. He attended Lakewood Christian Church, was a Boy Scout and then a leader for Troop 4. He enjoyed camping, woodworking (even building a Sunfish sail boat from scratch, in the dining room because it was too big to come up the basement stairs).
