Dodok, Helen Theresa (Palker)
Went to be with the Lord, surrounded by family on Friday, January 13, 2017. Her 96 years were filled with faith for her Lord and love of her family. She was born on January 25, 1920 in the near west side of Cleveland and relocated to Medina, Ohio at an early age; she graduated from Medina High School in 1938. Her early employment history included both S. S. Kresge and Higbee’s department stores in downtown Cleveland. She was employed during World War II at Monarch Aluminum as a shipping/receiving clerk followed
by serving as a riveter/bucker on the B-29 bomber at the Cleveland Bomber Plant. She was a founding member of St. Mel Catholic Church (1948) and a resident of the West Park neighborhood of Cleveland for 59 years before relocating to St. Leonard Faith Community in Centerville, Ohio, since May of 2007. She was the daughter of the late Adam Palkech Palker and Katherine Kodai Palker. She joins her husband John P. Dodok, Sr., whom she married on May 10, 1941 (married for 59 years), and son John P. Dodok, Jr. Also, preceded in death by her sister Josephine Atzberger, and brothers, John, Adam, Stephen, and Joseph Palker. Helen is survived by her loving children, Bernadine A. Theus, James H. (Carolyn) Dodok; daughter-in-law Cheryl Dodok; grandchildren Natalie Theus (Gabriel Rostorfer), Christine (Jason) Duffy, Liam (Heather) Theus, James P. (Brandie Blank) Dodok, Matthew Dodok; great grandchildren Michael, Malia, Caroline Duffy, Lennon Dodok, step great grandchildren Jason Lambert, Athena and Ella Ary, many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 23rd at DONLON FUNERAL HOME, 15408 TRISKETT RD., CLEVELAND, OH from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and at St. Mel Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. immediately preceding the mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 24th at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mel Catholic Church, 14436 Triskett Rd., Cleveland, OH. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family would like to express our thanks to
daughter-in-law Carolyn, Melanie Schiebrel, Elaine Wright, Lourdes Giles, Hospice of Dayton and extended family members for the loving care provided to Helen. If desired and in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to St. Mel Catholic Church.
