Gerald C. Metzler


Gerald C. Metzler, age 79, Great Lakes historian, Science teacher (Lakewood High School 1971-1998), and wrestling coach. Beloved husband of Lona (nee Dzialo). Dear brother of Suzy "Kate" Dupuis and Sarah Josef. For over 50 years, Jerry researched and created a comprehensive index of thousands of pre-1900 Great Lakes vessels. While diving on over 72 shipwrecks in Lake Erie and publishing a map, “Lake Erie Shipwrecks”, he devoted himself to vessel genealogy. His database is hosted by the Wisconsin Maritime Museum (www.greatlakesvessels.org). Additional consulting contributions to the nautical history of the Great Lakes include: “Michigan’s Nautical Time Capsules” exhibit for the Dossin Great Lakes Museum; WKYC-TV program “The Inland Sea Named Erie”; advised the Ohio Historical Society and the Department of Natural Resources regarding legislation to establish an underwater state park in Lake Erie; answered hundreds of requests from genealogists and institutions regarding shipwrecks; wrote a column called “Research Challenge” in a newsletter published by the Association for Great Lakes Maritime History; consulted with The Steamship Historical Society; the Department of the Army - Canal Park Museum; Michigan City Historical Society, Inc.; The Great Lakes Historical Society; and The Institute for Great Lakes Research (Bowling Green).

Michael D. Ash

February 9, 1959 - January 7, 2025

Mike Ash, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025.  He was predeceased in death by his Grandparents Stanley and Betty Czyznikiewicz, Mother, Olga "Chi Chi" Gilson, Brother, Tony Ash, and Aunt, Vicky Thomas.  He is survived by his Wife Tami Ash, children, grandchildren, sisters, cousin, nieces and nephews.  

Mike enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and his dog Meriah.  

Mike was very loved and will be missed by many.  A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held this summer.

Mary Hamill

Mary Hamill passed away on New Year’s Eve with her family by her side. Daughter of the late Marcel and Mary Anna Szymecki. Beloved wife of the late William Hamill, and mother to Kathy Donohue (dec, dear friend Chris), William (Patricia), and Maryanna Matis (Mike). Grandmother toJoseph (Rachel), Jacquelyn, Patrick Hamill, and Devin Matis.

She was strong in her Catholicfaith, daily praying the rosary with her family and friends at Middleburg Hts. Assisted Living. She was president of the Radio TV Council for many years as well as living with the local PTA. She operated William and Mary Antiques for many years, and whenever she was at an antique show with our father, he was always delighted to see the treasures that she would bring back from her “shopping trips”. Her superpower was the ability to reach into a box of cheap jewelry and pull out a diamond ring.

There will be a Funeral Mass on Wednesday January 8th at 11:30 AM at St. John Bosco Church 6480 Pearl Rd. Parma Hts. with a reception in the back of the church one hour prior to the mass. Richard " Ricky" Stewart

Richard D. Stewart age 68 passed away peacefully on

Sunday December 15 th . Born and raised in Cleveland he

was an avid Indians fan always proudly showing off his

Chief Wahoo tattoo. He enjoyed fishing, playing BINGO

and watching westerns. He was preceded in death by his

parents Virginia and William as well as his “little buddy”

Wasyl "Bill" Kiwala

Wasyl “Bill” Kiwala, 63, of Parma Heights, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, surrounded by loving family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Madonna (Harrington) Kiwala; daughter, Ashley Kiwala, and stepchildren, Samuel Jackson and Elizabeth Jackson; and siblings, Anna Chudoba and John Chudoba. He is preceded in death by his mother, Jaroslawa Chudoba, and stepfather, Michael Chudoba.

Bill was born on August 2, 1961, in Poland. He moved to Parma, Ohio, as a child, and he remained in the area throughout his career as a laborer. He married Madonna in 2010, and they’ve had a loving and happy marriage for the past 14 years. Bill retired in 2023. He was an active and devout member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at St. John Bosco Church. He always sought opportunities to help those in need, whether through his volunteer work or by assisting friends, family, and neighbors. He will be remembered by friends and family as an energetic, funny, kind, and loving man.

Linda K. Wanamaker


Linda Wanamaker of Cleveland, Ohio passed away at home on October 22, 2024 at the age of 75. Linda was born on October 15th, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Cleora (nee Kohls) & Carl Wanamaker. She is also preceded in death by her twin sister, Susie Wanamaker, and her brother Jack (Marilyn) Wanamaker. She leaves behind her brother Bob (Judy) Wanamaker and many beloved nieces and nephews who brought her great joy. She is also especially loved and admired by many cousins of multiple generations. 

Linda was a beautiful soul. She loved a good Pepsi and worked for Pepsico throughout much of her career. She bravely battled hardship in her life, including the death of her father during her childhood and the death of her twin sister, Susie, due to a brain tumor in 1995. Susie was her beloved companion and best friend. Linda was witty and kept up to date with current events. She enjoyed the simple things in life like a game of bridge, a good laugh, going out to dinner with family and trips down south. Every morning she walked despite significant physical challenges and she listened to Fr. Dan Schlegel's online mass. She was a passionate fan of the Cleveland  Guardians, sometimes too nervous to actually watch the game. Her Catholic faith was a source of comfort and courage throughout the ups and downs of life. She will be dearly missed. 

A Mass will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, 10:00 am, Saint Mel Church, 14436 Triskett Road, Cleveland. Visitation will follow the mass.

David A. Walker

David Allan Walker, born on June 21, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024 at 75, in Lakewood, Ohio. David was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, whose life touched many through his work, interests, and talents.

 He is survived by his sons, Chris and David Walker, the latter of whom is married to Justyna and father to their cherished daughter, Riley. David's family was a central part of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

 An accomplished swimmer, downhill skier, and metalsmith, David was a man of great skill and passion. His career was marked by outstanding achievements, including receiving accolades for his work making the spire topping Key Tower, the intricate staircase in the Gucci store at Tower City, and the refurbishment of the iconic Edison Light on the corner of Public Square. David had a remarkable talent for understanding the mechanics of how things work. His enthusiasm for engaging in various projects was matched by his love for listening to music, which often accompanied his work.

 David's love for activity was evident in his enjoyment of bike riding, which allowed him to stay active for many years.

 A memorial service to honor David's life will be held at Donlon Funeral Home, located at 15408 Triskett Rd, Cleveland, OH 44111, on Friday November 8th from 6-8 PM.

Thomas J. Woods


Thomas Joseph Woods, 64, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Born on January, 28,1960 in Cleveland, Tom was a proud member of the Saint Ignatius Class of 1978 and went on to become a CPA after graduating from Cleveland State University.  He was dedicated to his tenants in the three apartment buildings that he owned until 2021. Beloved son of the late William T. and Ellen Rae (nee Schustr) Woods. He is survived by his siblings, William T., Dennis, David, Maureen Bissler (Fred), Fred (Kelly Kupkak), Jean McCormick(Dale), Mark (Debra), Patricia Schilling (Robb Matthews), Ellen McCafferty (Dennis), Jacqueline Marconi (John) and Joseph (deceased).  He was a supportive and "favorite" uncle of 24 and great uncle of 12.  Tom volunteered at St. Mel Church, and he was "the best" CYO basketball coach. He was always up for a pick up game of basketball with the nieces and nephews, and telling stories of his youth.  He will be greatly missed.

Thomas P. Glynn

Thom Glynn, 82. Beloved partner of Mark Puleo for more than 50 years, loving son of Nellie Kolar (deceased) and grandson of Margaret Woodward (deceased), dear sister of Ella (Jim) Dubelko, brother of Jerome Kolar (deceased), and super cool uncle of Elizabeth (Pete) Olds, Alexandra (Skye) Laudari, Gwen (Chris) Hoops, and Gregory (Jess) Dubelko. Thom grew up in Cleveland and Euclid, Ohio, and is remembered by his sister Ella as being the best brother any young girl could hope to have. After high school, Thom served honorably in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965, and was stationed overseas.  Returning to the Cleveland area, Thom worked as a postal carrier for a number of years before becoming active in Cleveland's early LGBTQ community, where he invested in several night clubs that accommodated all.  His nightclub "Twiggy's Place" at 2537 St. Clair Avenue was one of Cleveland's most popular places to go in the 1970s, and was visited by numerous celebrities who came to Cleveland, including Diane Carroll, Della Reese, Baryshnikov, Joan Rivers, Rip Torn, David Bowie, Barry Williams, Patti LaBelle and her sisters, and the Bluebells. After Twiggy's closed, he remained very active in Cleveland's LGBTQ community, serving as a mentor to many, many young men and women in that community.  For his life work, Thom, who over the years became known as the "Lakefront Legend," was awarded numerous citations and awards by the City of Cleveland and various charitable organizations.  In addition to his business and charitable activities, Thom was a beloved uncle to his sister's four children.  He spent holidays and birthdays with his nieces and nephew, and always brought to the event the most beautifully wrapped presents that reflected his creative genius.  He will be missed by family and friends, and by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Joshua K. Cramer


Joshua Karl Cramer was born on August 6th 1980 to William P Cramer Sr and Linda Fay Cramer (nee Sword) both deceased. After a hard fought battle with cancer Josh entered into eternal rest on August 29th 2024 surrounded by loved ones. To all that knew him he was beacon of positivity and hope. Josh was always there to lend a helping hand or a inspiring word to everyone that he came into contact with. Josh was a proud John Hay High School graduate class of 1998. He continued his education at Cleveland State University earning a bachelor and Masters degree while working for the Cleveland Indians. Afterwards he went to work for his alma mater in the registrar's office at Cleveland State for many years. Josh was a loving and devoted father to Ariana and Olivia Cramer who he shared with his former partner, Christine Cramer. Joshua is also survived by his sister Christina Cramer his brother William P Cramer Jr (Tora) and his sister Connie Krokey (Alan). Josh was also a loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews whom he was quick to share a laugh or a bit of good advice with. Andrew Anthony Choma passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. Born on March 16, 1940 to the late Hermina (nee Szajcz) and Andrew John Choma Jr. Beloved father of Andrea Grmovsek, Audrey Spanjol, and Jeffrey Andrew Choma. Grandfather of Alexandria Mowrey and Sabrina Choma. Great-Grandfather of Stella Mowrey. Half -Brother to Albert Loyd Starnes.

Joseph P. McCauley



On Friday, July 19th, 2024, Joe Patrick McCauley passed away at age seventy-eight in Cleveland, Ohio.

Beloved husband of Belinda McCauley, née Geary. They were together for forty-six years. Loving father to sons Bryan (Allie) and Colin (Allison), both of whom he was extremely proud.

Born to Mary and William McCauley in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland, Joe is preceded in death by sisters Anna and Rita. He is survived by siblings Luke, Noel, Michael, Jim, Mary, and Antoinette; as well as many nieces and nephews in both Ireland and England.

Before coming to the US, Joe worked in the Irish Showband industry as Tour Manager with popular Irish bands including Brendan Bowyer and the Big Eight, as well as Joe Dolan and The Drifters. Joe retired from the City of Cleveland after a thirty year career, serving as an Operations Agent for Cleveland Hopkins Airport. In semi-retirement, he lent his talents and time to American Wire and Cable.

In retirement, Joe and Belinda enjoyed traveling, visiting Las Vegas countless times. The two were also avid cruise goers, visiting Italy, France, and Spain, as well as the Caribbean, Cuba, Mexico, and the Bahamas.


Instead of traditional funeral services, family are gathering for a private celebration of life. The family asks that you follow Joe’s example by taking time to cherish your loved ones and enjoy the precious gift of love, family, and friendship.

Kathleen J. Conroy

Kathleen Jo Conroy (nee Calvey) passed away on July 5, 2024, at the age of 86. She is the daughter of William and Olive (Mattingly) Calvey (deceased) and was born on January 3, 1938. Kathleen was a devote Catholic and a member of The Secular Franciscan Order (OFS) as well as other charismatic prayer groups throughout her life. She spent 25 years working for K&K Portage Market. She was always ready to sing and dance at the drop of a hat. She was artistically gifted and had drawers full of crafting materials for different projects. She touched many people’s lives with many thinking of her as a second Mom and many of their children thinking of her as their other Grandma. She is survived by her children Paul Conroy (Elle), Philip Conroy (Eileen), Andrew Conroy, and David Conroy (Aimee) and her sisters Patricia Dunlap (Jerry), Roberta “Bobby” McDonnell (John deceased), Marylin Voelkerding (Bruce), and Olive Calvey, grand children Brie Schneider, Lily Conroy, Hunter Conroy, Owen Conroy, Ethan Conroy, Alex Conroy, and Jacob Petz, and great-grandchild Apollo Truhlar. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Bill Calvey, Mike Calvey (Lin), and John Calvey (Karen) and her spouse William Conroy. Kimberly A Gross , 58, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 27th 2024.

She was born on December 31st 1965.

Preceded into death by her Mother Sandra, adopted Father Clayton and her brothers James and Andrew.
