Marie D. Solgos

Marie Diane (Dee-Dee/Nana) Solgos

It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that we share the passing of Marie Diane Solgos (Dudas), who peacefully returned to the House of the Father on Monday, April 28 having been fortified by the sacraments of Holy Mother Church.

Marie was an incredible mom to Joseph Simon (Basil) Damukaitis and the late Jeffrey James Damukaitis. She absolutely adored her grandchildren, Chloe Emsoff and Corban James Damukaitis, and was excitedly awaiting the arrival of her newest great-grandchild, Luka James Emsoff, along with her beloved great-granddaughter, Kennady Emsoff.

Marie was the loving wife of Jerry (Jerome) Solgos, who predeceased her, and she cherished his family as her own. Born to Jim and Helen Dudas, Marie was the eldest of six siblings, including James, Joseph, Robert (deceased), Susan, and Bonnie. Family was her everything, and her bonds with her brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, and grandnieces were incredibly special to her.

Over the past two years, Marie was cared for by the devoted staff at Concord Reserve in Westlake, Ohio, and her appreciation for their kindness and compassion was evident even in her final days.

Marie was the ultimate friend to everyone she encountered. Her vibrant spirit made it impossible not to love her. She was the life of the party, known for her infectious enthusiasm and selflessness—always putting her children, family, and friends first. If she couldn't physically or financially lend a hand, she was always praying for others by name and their intention through the intercession of Our Lady.

Her viewing will take place on Friday, May 2, from 4-7 PM at Donlon Funeral Home, 15408 Triskett Rd, Cleveland, OH 44111. The Requiem Mass (funeral) will be on Saturday, May 3, at 10 AM at the Church of St. Mel, which has been the beloved parish of three generations of Dudases.

In our grief, we find comfort in knowing that Masses will be celebrated for her repose around the world, including Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto in France on the day of her funeral.

Marie, you have brightened our lives and will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you for the love and laughter. Requiescat in pace, mom.
